The Uttarakhand High Court strongly criticized police for detaining activist Prabhat Dhyani. The court questioned the police’s authority to stop citizens exercising their constitutional rights. Authorities were asked if their role was to protect government image or people’s rights. The court directed the involved officer to be made a party to the case. Notices were issued to senior police officials for their responses.
