Meerut cops face action after ‘torture’ charge against farm leader, Dalit associate

Several Meerut police officers were recalled after a farmer leader alleged torture in custody. An inquiry was ordered by the ADG, Meerut zone, into the serious allegations. The farmer leader claimed he and his associate were assaulted for hours by senior officers. Police initially denied the claims but later deleted their statement from social media. Authorities have now attached the SSP to state headquarters in Lucknow for further action.
