Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have contributed $4 million for the preservation of Alakoko Fishpond in Hawaii. This historic site, which is over 600 years old, faced potential environmental degradation and development pressure. The donation helped acquire the property for long-term stewardship by the nonprofit Mālama Hulē‘ia. Their initiative supports education about traditional Hawaiian aquaculture and native ecosystems.
