With Diwali approaching, nearly 20,000 Agniveers will have the opportunity to serve for two more years. The Union Cabinet’s decision follows the initial batch nearing the end of its four-year service term. As many as 75% of Agniveers were scheduled to leave the armed forces. The revised scheme allows these personnel to gain further experience before being considered for permanent roles.
