’20k women promised gifts’: 1 dead after ‘stampede’ at BJP mayor’s Rakhi event

A woman died and three others were injured during a Rakshabandhan event in Bareilly. The stampede occurred after a large crowd surged towards the stage. Organizers had invited approximately twenty thousand women to the event. Gifts and food were promised to all attendees, swelling the crowd. Police and civic officials have not yet issued a formal statement.
