Lucknow has faced flooding in several neighborhoods due to upstream rainfall runoff. Local rainfall alone is not responsible for the resulting waterlogging in the city. Officials indicate that the runoff from upstream catchments has taken about eight to ten days to reach Lucknow. Urbanization and encroachment on the river’s floodplain have exacerbated the flooding situation. Experts expect gradual improvement as runoff emissions begin to stabilize in the coming days.
