New Green Card rules from September: Categories affected and those exempt

Beginning in September 2026, the USCIS unveiled new regulations affecting Green Card seekers. These guidelines emphasize the financial self-sufficiency of applicants while excluding those in humanitarian categories. Nearly all applicants, including family and various occupational groups, must satisfy these criteria. While the Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, is crucial, it cannot guarantee approval on its own.
